Where or when
I have a level 12, maybe 11 but I think 12, Ranger/Elementalist and am slowly working my way through the game. I have great equipment due to the kindness of guildmates but am seeking guidance as to where I should be to maximize my leveling.
I have just finished the Fort Rank Primary mission and am now in the Ruins of Surmia. I am not having too much trouble working on the side missions and wonder if I should go ahead and try to get to Nolani Academy. Would the monsters there be too much for me or would I receive much better experience by working in a harder area? Additionally, most of you know about what skills I have for my Elemental profession by now. I don't seem to use any of them ever. What elemental skills should be on my skill bar & which ones would be helping me that I don't know about? Thanks for your replies? |

level 11 or 12 would get you to yak's bend so dont worry to much you are way ahead of the game
i have to this point done every mission/quest and bonus missions and im only at "The Wild" now and im level 19 thats only about 2/3 of the game that i have done. Last edited by salatious; Jun 06, 2005 at 05:03 PM // 17:03.. |

Ahead of the game? Does that mean that I am going too fast or not near fast enough?

your level is a bit ahead. levels don't really mean much, as a lot of us here would tell you. i started a new character, and immediately started doing missions, and i got to yak's bend at lv7. sure, i had less health compared to if i was level 10, but it didn't make much difference. i already have my favourite skills that do what they're supposed to, and i crafted the new armor set at yak's bend so i don't get killed as fast, and i just finished borlis pass.
don't worry too much about levels. |

As for the levels, yeah, you're a bit high level for where you are. |

If you are getting 0xp when you kill something, you're level is too high for the area. I'm a level 12 Monk and had no trouble getting to Lion's Arch.

what skill you want to use, is entirely up to you. use what ever works. i used to be a Monk/Elementalist, but the only elementalist spell i use on a regular basis is glyph of lesser energy. sometimes i'd refund some points to put in to air magic and use windborne speed. lately i haven't been using them at all; yeah, all 8 skill slots are monk skills. recently i changed my 2ndary to Necromancer, and i'm having fun fooling around with my new skills.
so yeah, don't worry too much about that. if you wanna make things simpler, then specialize. pick, let's say, 2 attributes: expertise and marksmanship, and pump only those 2 up high, then pick only expertise and marksmanship based skills to use in your bar. if you still have free slots, then heck, put in charm animal so you can have your pet with you. |

Personally I am a 20 R/N... I almost never use the Necro skills. Rangers work fine on there own, but when in a group that is where you have to stop and look at what your team is missing. That will help deside...
